Today was Evan’s end of year gymnastics activity day. All the teachers and students come together for a day of fun.

Eric also joined in the fun.

Today we went to the Papaver in Delft which is a nature center on a small nature reserve. We get together there seasonally with other homeschoolers and we hire a guide to show us around and provide nice activities for the kids. We have done many nice things over the years there such as dredging canals with nets, looking for mushrooms after the rains, and identifying trees and their leaves in the fall to name a few. The theme for today’s visit was “Kleine Beestjes” and I think the pun is quite intended. :)

Making art with nature:

Summer fun is sun, mud, sand, and friends and for us, only a 5 minute bike ride away. We were there all afternoon until after dinner.

Yesterday Evan had his first belt exam in Taekwondo.   He did very well and he wasn’t nervous at all.  He has been practicing a lot and his efforts really showed.

He did so well, he skipped a level. He thought he was going to get a white belt with yellow tag but he went straight to the yellow belt. He was so excited and proud.

Now Evan has opened his own TKD school and he has exactly one student (Eric).    This morning Eric had his first lesson.  He had to stretch, and do warm-ups.  Then Meester Evan taught him a new running game and finally Eric had to learn different Korean names for kicks and standing postures.    The funny thing is that Eric is such a good sport about it all he plays right along.

June is the month of Birthdays.    Happy Birthday June Babies!!

Today we had no trouble getting to a birthday party of our little friend.

Last time there was a transportation strike and we were stranded at Zwijndrecht station.

Always an adventure.

Because the boys can speak English, they were invited to participate in a product test for a new toy.  The toy is an electronic animal that you need to feed and exercise.     It makes little noises that tell you that it’s hungry and what it wants to eat.   When you bring the animal to it’s plastic food it makes a little noise.    It also goes pipi and takes a shower.    They boys had fun playing with it and then they had to answer some questions about the toy afterwards.     The lady asked Eric what other things he would like such a toy to do and Eric said, “It needs to pop balloons.”    :)

We invited friends for a bbq over the weekend.   It was nice to get everyone together and this may be the last time we can do something big like this before we move.

Give a 4yo a camera and see what he sees.   Eric loves the camera and it was fun to see what he deemed interesting enough to photograph.

Taekwondo Camp was a huge success. After some traffic we finally made it to the Ardennen Bos region of Belgium. The instructors of the club organized a really nice program with lots of activities for the kids and some for the parents too,

including a trip to the caves at Remouchamps. The caves were a wonderful treat and Evan really enjoyed it.

One of the activities was putting the kids into small groups and then having them come up with a skit to perform for the evening entertainment. It was the first time Evan had to perform in front of an audience and he did a really great job.

Evan is nearing his first Taekwondo belt exam and he’s very excited. They are also having Taekwondo camp this week in Belgium and of course he’s excited about that too. Since I think he’s too little to be going by himself, I’m going to go as a helper/tag along/annoying parent (call it what you will).  So, we’ve been busy trying to sort out all the things we need for the camp.

It was so nice today and the boys had a lot of fun at the neighborhood community (i.e. pay) park. The park has a lot of water play and sand which is just what these boys love.

Plum tired.
